This past week, the first-ever 'Cupcakery' opened in Winnipeg. You regular readers know I have noted the opening of various cupcake-dispensing bakeries in the St. Louis area with an increasing sense of dismay, wondering if we poor Winnipeggers would ever merit our own Shoppe dealing exclusively in the sweet confections. Well, Winnipeg's day has finally dawned! The Cupcakery has opened. And the cupcakes are delicious; I had a "cookies-and-cream" specialty cupcake today. The cake was airy; the icing was probably the best buttercream I've ever tasted.
I can happily guarantee Cupcakery cakes to any family or friends who venture north to visit me in the future.

Better order mine...black forest I think and fudge chocolate for Jerry.
So I had some today and at $8.00 for 6 mini cup cakes and $14.00 for 6 regular size I was pretty disappointed. With only two base flavors to choose from the chocolate and vanilla choices seemed very plain and unoriginal considering the stores sole reason for existing was cup cakes. The icing however was the up point. With delicious flavors like peppermint, peanut butter, strawberry and banana I was still thinking their could have been more choice.
I do totally agree with you that having only two cake choices is a little lame. Apparently there will be a different 'specialty' cupcake everyday, which when I went, was cookies and cream, but might be red velvet or other, more exotic flavors.
Maybe as they go forward, they'll consider carrying more cake flavors. How was the peppermint icing? I think that's the next kind I want to try.
I think they need to make the store look a little more attractive, it is a little boring to look at inside. Secondly, the cupcakes should have some toppings like sprinkles or cocunut and there should be more cake flavours. The icing was ok, but not as good as I would have expected. I dont think they are nearly as good as High Tea Bakery, now thats a place for cupcakes and cookies.
