Canada's Oil Boomtown

Thought you guys might find this article interesting. Apparently, they have to pay fast food workers $17 dollars an hour here just to keep them around.

As an aside, Manitoba's population is rising a bit as people who moved out to Alberta for the high salaries come back. If McDonald's is paying $17.00 an hour, imagine what a Big Mac costs. The cost of living throughout Alberta has gone through the roof. Especially in Fort McMurray, where I hear people rent out every square inch of space they can, which can include renting someone a closet to sleep in.

Hmm, I wonder what a geologist would make there? $18.00/hour perhaps?
